Meta introduces ‘Imagine Me’ feature in India

After its introduction in the US and a select few countries, Meta is rolling out its new ‘Imagine Me’ artificial intelligence (AI) feature in India. It will be available within Meta’s popular social media platforms such as Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. The feature, initially introduced in July 2024, essentially captures the user's facial data and then, using its personalization models, adds the same face in different scenarios and styles.

With the feature finally making its Indian debut, it will let people create AI images of themselves in a variety of imaginative contexts and styles. Part of Meta’s broader AI offering, Imagine Me is now live across platforms including WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and the Meta AI app itself. Users can generate photos of themselves in different scenarios, from ‘on the moon’ to ‘in a Renaissance painting’.”

To get started, users must complete a one-time setup. This involves opening a chat with Meta AI and typing the phrase “Imagine me as” followed by the desired scenario. The interface then prompts users to give permission for facial data collection and captures multiple angles of their face.

Once that is done, users are free to generate images by typing prompts such as “Imagine me as a 90s rockstar” or “Imagine me in a Bollywood film.”
