Cohesity, a global leader in AI-powered data security, cloud data protection, and enterprise backup solutions, has announced the appointment of Gregg Statton as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. This newly created strategic role will bolster Cohesity’s technology leadership, focusing on cyber resilience, AI-driven data management, and next-generation data protection solutions to meet growing customer needs in APJ markets.
In this expanded position, Statton will lead technology strategy, product innovation, and research and development (R&D) initiatives tailored to customer-specific requirements across APJ, with a particular emphasis on Japan’s data security market. He will continue his global responsibilities as the head of Cohesity’s AI solution, Gaia, and report directly to Sunil Moolchandani, Chief Strategy Officer at Cohesity.
Cohesity’s decision to appoint a dedicated CTO for APJ reflects its increasing investments in the region, positioning it as a priority growth market for FY26. The company aims to address the rising demand for integrated cloud security, business continuity, and data governance solutions as enterprises and government agencies navigate digital transformation, hybrid cloud adoption, and cybersecurity threats.

Gregg Statton brings over a decade of experience at Cohesity, where he led AI solutions development, data science initiatives, and served as Senior Director of Data & AI. His previous roles at CITRIX, Nutanix, and Google’s product development further strengthen his capability to guide enterprise customers in building secure, scalable, and cloud-native infrastructure.
