Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in collaboration with the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) South Asia Regional Office hosted a Workshop on Safe, Trusted and Ethical Artificial Intelligence in New Delhi on Wednesday (5th June 2024). Speaking on the occasion, Additional Secretary, MeitY, Abhishek Singh elucidated that building a safe and trusted AI which will not result in user harm and will ensure a framework that will promote innovation is necessary. In his address, Principal Scientific Advisor, Professor Ajay Kumar Sood said that India aims to adopt a balanced approach on AI. He said that India has launched several initiatives including, the India AI mission to foster the development and adoption of AI. Mr. Sood further added, UNESCO has played a commendable role in promoting ethics of AI across the world. The workshop aimed to establish a foundation for informed policy development that promotes equitable and sustainable AI adoption nationwide. (With inputs from agencies)
