Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Vows Accountability: ‘Not a Single Penny Will Go to Waste’

A Strong Stand Against Corruption and Mismanagement In a fiery address to the Delhi Assembly on Friday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), vowing to ensure that no public funds are misused under her administration. She reaffirmed her commitment to fulfilling every promise made in her election manifesto and highlighted findings from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports that she claims expose corruption and negligence under the previous government led by Arvind Kejriwal. Holding AAP Accountable: CAG Reports Reveal Financial Mismanagement CM Rekha Gupta did not hold back in her criticism of AAP’s financial handling. She accused the party of misusing Delhi’s tax revenues to fund election campaigns in other states. “They were the people who collected tax from Delhi and used it for elections elsewhere... We are releasing all the CAG reports one by one, and this has rattled them. They cannot even dare sit in the Assembly and listen to the findings. Instead, they made excuses to leave, using the issue of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s portrait as a pretext,” she asserted. Gupta also credited the Narendra Modi-led central government for giving Babasaheb Ambedkar the respect he deserved, something she claimed no other government had done effectively. Public Health and Infrastructure Under Scrutiny Reinforcing her promise of transparency, CM Gupta presented the second CAG audit report on public health infrastructure and services in Delhi. The report, she said, exposed severe lapses under the Kejriwal administration, particularly in healthcare management. “This report has not only exposed the truth about the Kejriwal government but has also revealed how people’s health was compromised,” she added. Targeting Atishi: AAP’s Unfulfilled Promises Gupta also took aim at former Chief Minister Atishi, criticizing her for questioning BJP’s election promise of providing ₹2,500 to citizens. “The very next day after our government took charge, Atishi came to my office and asked when I would fulfill this promise. I told her, ‘This is my responsibility, and I will get it done.’ Those who were in power for ten years failed to fulfill any of their commitments,” she declared. Corruption Allegations Against Arvind Kejriwal Delhi’s Cabinet Minister Parvesh Verma escalated the attack on AAP by making serious allegations against its leader and former Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal. He asserted that Kejriwal’s involvement in corruption would ensure he remains in Tihar Jail for the rest of his life. “All scams under Kejriwal’s leadership will be thoroughly investigated. I don’t think he will be able to come out of Tihar at thismanish birth,” Verma stated. Delhi’s Role in Governance and Development Verma also emphasized that while Delhi is not a full-fledged state, it remains critical for governance. He accused the previous administration of making false promises about transforming Delhi into a global city while instead promoting questionable policies. “The previous government claimed they would make Delhi like London, but what did they do? They opened liquor stores outside schools, temples, and even inside Sheesh Mahal. They built luxurious offices but denied public access,” Verma alleged. Accusations of Exploiting Family for Political Gain In a shocking claim, Verma accused Kejriwal of using his own parents to gain political sympathy. “He made his father sit in a wheelchair despite the fact that he could walk, all for votes. In just two months before the elections, Kejriwal attempted to divide Delhi along caste lines—Jats, Baniyas. I met a widow named Moni Das in Bengali Camp whose two sons died because of his liquor policy. There are countless such examples,” Verma claimed. Probes into Alleged Scams and Cultural Preservation Verma confirmed that all alleged scams under Kejriwal’s tenure would be investigated. He also addressed concerns over renaming places in Delhi, stating that while it is not the government’s sole priority, preserving cultural heritage is essential. “The invaders changed many names, and we will restore them. Moreover, if any Bangladeshi national was issued a ration card under Kejriwal’s government, strict action will be taken,” he asserted. A New Era of Governance Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s strong stance in the Assembly signals a shift in governance, with an emphasis on accountability, transparency, and development. The allegations against the previous AAP government, coupled with her commitment to fulfilling electoral promises, set the stage for a new chapter in Delhi’s political landscape. As investigations into past administrations continue, the future of Delhi’s governance remains at a pivotal juncture, with promises of transformation and reform under the BJP-led leadership.   (With inputs from agencies)
