The demon Tarakasur was aware of Shiva's condition. He felt that Lord Shiva would never go into a household life now, taking advantage of which he wanted to become immortal. To get the boon of immortality, he did a severe penance of Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe. Pleased with Tarakasur's penance, Lord Brahma appeared and asked him to ask for a boon. Tarakasur asked Brahma ji for a boon that his death should be at the hands of Lord Shiva's son only. He should not die at the hands of any other person, deity, creature and astra-shastra etc. Lord Brahma gave the boon to Tarakasur by saying Amen.   Goddess Parvati did severe penance At the same time, King Himavan was living on the Himalayas with his wife, whose daughter was Goddess Parvati. Goddess Parvati had unwavering faith in Lord Shiva. She loved Shiva and wanted to marry him. But Lord Shiva was sitting in meditation posture on Mount Kailash. To wake up Lord Shiva from meditation posture, the gods and goddesses sent Kaamdev to him. As soon as Kaamdev was about to shoot an arrow of love at Lord Shiva, at that very moment Shiva's third eye opened due to which Kaamdev was reduced to ashes. When all the gods and goddesses failed in their attempt, then Goddess Parvati went to Mount Kailash to do penance. Mahadev was pleased with the penance of the goddess Goddess Parvati did hard penance to get Mahadev as her husband. Mahadev was pleased with the penance of the goddess and came in front of her in a strange form and asked her if she would marry him. Goddess Parvati immediately said yes, after which Mahadev appeared in his real form and married Goddess Parvati on the same day.
