WASHINGTON, D.C. – Suzanne P. Clark, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, welcomed recent steps toward a trade agreement between the United States and India, a long-sought goal for American and Indian businesses.
Clark congratulated both governments for their efforts to reduce tariffs and non-tariff barriers, saying the move will benefit companies and workers in both nations. “We are optimistic this marks the first step toward a comprehensive trade deal that will unlock greater private-sector collaboration,” she added.
Highlighting the Chamber’s active role, Clark noted that the U.S.-India Business Council and its members are committed to supporting implementation of the announcement. Last year, she visited Delhi and Mumbai to meet officials and business leaders, underscoring the trade deal’s potential to strengthen economic ties, create jobs, and enhance global security.
