The Haryana Government is set to launch a new face app that will simplify how beneficiaries self-certify for pensions and other social security benefits. This initiative aims to boost convenience, keep records current, remove deceased individuals from beneficiary lists, and ensure precise, timely data management.
Currently in its final testing phase, the app will let beneficiaries submit life certificates directly from their mobile phones, twice a year. This means no more inconvenient trips or paperwork.
"This technology-based facility will allow beneficiaries to complete self-certification requirements from the comfort of their homes using their cell phones," stated Prashant Panwar, Director of the SEWA Department.
The app will first be piloted in Panchkula and Ambala before a wider rollout across Haryana. Once fully implemented, it stands to benefit over 36 lakh recipients statewide. This includes 21.96 lakh senior citizens receiving the Old Age Samman Allowance, 8.88 lakh widows, 2.09 lakh persons with disabilities, along with individuals with dwarfism, transgender community members, destitute children, and patients with rare diseases.
Haryana's inspiration for this digital leap comes from successful welfare models in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Panwar noted, "We took cue from Rajasthan where this app has proven to be highly effective in assisting welfare recipients. Our team visited Rajasthan in February this year and since then, we have been working on developing this application for our beneficiaries."
