Washington, DC: US President Donald Trump has ordered a major cleanup of Washington, DC, stating that he did not want Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other world leaders to see tents, graffiti, or potholes near federal buildings.
Speaking at the Department of Justice, Trump emphasized his commitment to improving the capital’s appearance and safety.
"We're cleaning up our city. We're cleaning up this great capital, and we're not going to stand for crime. We're taking down the graffiti, removing the tents, and working to make it safer," Trump said.
Trump revealed that during recent visits by world leaders, including PM Modi, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, he ensured their travel routes were cleared of unsightly conditions.
"When these leaders visited over the last week and a half, I didn't want them to see tents, graffiti, broken barriers, and potholes. We made sure the city looked beautiful," he added.
Trump pledged to restore law and order in Washington, DC, promising a crime-free and well-maintained capital.
"When people come here, they're not going to be mugged, shot, or raped. The city will be cleaner, better, and safer than ever before—and it won’t take long," he declared.
Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has already hosted several world leaders, including:
✔ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
✔ Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba
✔ Jordan’s King Abdullah II
✔ French President Emmanuel Macron
✔ UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer
PM Modi's February 13 visit marked the fourth high-profile foreign leader hosted by Trump in just a few weeks.
