India’s refurbished products market is witnessing rapid growth, fueled by festive season demand and rising digital adoption. With the internet user base set to exceed 900 million in 2025, up from 886 million in 2024, digital inclusion is accelerating, especially in rural areas that now make up 55% of users.
Growing concerns over e-waste and the shift toward a circular economy are encouraging consumers to choose refurbished options. At the same time, widespread AI adoption, with nine out of ten internet users engaging with AI-powered apps, is driving demand for affordable and sustainable devices.
Refurbished laptops, smartphones, tablets, and cameras are in high demand, typically priced 30–50% lower than new products, making them attractive to students and small businesses. Platforms such as Amazon Renewed, Cashify, and NewJaisa are boosting adoption by offering warranties and certifications, which help build trust.
This festive season, Amazon and Flipkart are pushing aggressive discounts, while sellers like Cashify and ControlZaim to convert up to 10% of new smartphone buyers into refurbished customers. Sellers are also using flash sales, bundled offers, and loyalty programs to remain competitive, with OEMs increasingly releasing refurbished stock backed by 6–12 month warranties.
With laptops holding a 74% market share and low-cost imports through ports like Mumbai, Chennai, and Mundra, refurbished electronics are becoming both an affordable and sustainable choice for India’s growing digital population.
